He uses varied mediums like sculpture, drawing, live tattooed animals, stained-glass windows, steel, tires, and X-ray photographs. He is known as a neo-conceptual artist and also known as an unconventional artist as well.

These are just a few examples of Wim Delvoye's art. I like that he uses so many different types of media. He not only prefers just one, but experiments with many.
Taking many different art classes the last few years has really taught me that I shouldn't feel that I can only pick one media to work with, but experiment with many. I loved painting, then I fell in love with ceramics, I like drawing and my new love is sculpture. I can't wait to see what I try next, hopefully I fall in love with digital imaging.

ReplyDeleteWim is one of my favorite sculptors along with Tim Hawkinson and Tom Friedman. It's because they all use so many different materials and processes and their work takes so many different forms. That is typically a bad thing because it's hard to gain fame without a niche. People like David Phelps and Jesus Moroles have that. They are known for one thing and that helps develop a reputation. These guys, to me, just have fun in the studio experimenting and learning. That's what I have modeled my career after..."playing" in the studio and learning new things.
Another that fits in here is David Cerny.
Hum, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm doing a million things at once and that's probably my biggest problem, trying to cook dinner, help with homework, chasing a little one.
