"8 weeks"

I'm posting 3 pictures because I wanted to let you see it in different perspectives. This wasn't my original image, but this is what it progressed into from a sculpture of 2 lovers in an embrace. This being my first project working with wood, I am very happy with the way it turned out. I worked on this nearly every day, it was very relaxing for me after a hectic day. The only change I would make would be the thigh and area where the leg bends. I feel like the thigh is rather big and the rest of the leg seems to be none existent rather than fading into the background.

  1. really nice design. Your craftsmanship is top shelf on this project and your work ethic was great. Adding the title is a nice touch!

  2. I really like this. I think the leg looks fine. I really like the background, and how you made it look curved like a mother's stomach.

  3. I love how calming and gentle you made this piece. The sharp corners combined with the sloping edges and circular image make it unique with an interesting use of negative space. I see what you mean about the area with the leg but I'm not sure I would've noticed if it hadn't been mentioned. Maybe if the smaller part of the leg faded away more deeply it would change it. Overall, I think this piece was beautifully executed, especially since you changed your subject matter part way through.

  4. I like this and I think you made a good chice in your switch. It is very calming. I am partial to this because I just had a baby.

  5. I like this alot better than your original image! I like the different depths and how it resembles a womb too...the baby looks very sad so it makes it seem like there is a reason or story behind it..great job!

  6. I love the baby! I think this might be my favorite piece. The features are realistic and adorable. Also, it really looks like (what I'd imagine) a scruntched-up baby to look like. It looks so serene and peaceful. Wonderful work!

  7. My favourite part of this piece is that the skin on the child is so smooth, it makes it look so much more realistic.
