I am intrigued by the work of Andy Goldsworthy. They are simple structures, but yet have a complexity about them. His works are in nature and some appear to have formed there naturally, but also give the sense that they are from another world that's peaceful and mystical. He uses natural resources and creates these sculptures that are made from stones, limbs, flowers and rocks to name a few. The colors he incorporates are brilliant and vibrant, but also dull and natural. He keeps everything symmetrical and balanced. I feel that he is inspired by nature and its simplistic beauty. He takes what he sees and transforms basic materials into beautiful works of art. The images that are circular and made with rocks and leaves are brightly colored with the center being an empty black space. This gives it depth, drawing the viewer in and seeing beyond its surface.
I have not yet read his biography on why he chooses to make his art and out of natural resources, these are my thoughts, opinions and insight into his world. This is an artist that you should take a look at, I think you will be amazed at the beauty and simplicity of it. I'm also attaching a few videos.
This video gives you insight into how he thinks and creates his art.
