Can anyone guess who made the top image?

The bottom photograph is the Baptistry in Florence, Italy. My brother sent this to me not knowing I was working on a piece using the octagon shape. I'm curious if that shape has a specific meaning, guess I'll have to check it out.

  1. there is decent pizza if you walk past the right side of the building. It's 2 doors in front of the Foot Locker

  2. Teresa you've stumped the class apparently. It's The Gates of Hell by Auguste Rodin. Babtistry Florence (Firenze) Italy (italia).

  3. Man if the teacher has to answer my question then I think there's something wrong with the class. This was easy and I don't think anyone tried. I am disappointed. :(

  4. This is what I found on octagons.

The symbolic meaning of octagon deals with:

    Regeneration
    Totality
    Infinity
    Rebirth
    Transition

The octagon is found in baptisteries as a symbol representing eternal life.

    Interesting!
